A good team effort in progress digging out for the hard-standing area

At the end of a good day's work, the base layer is at a well advanced stage

Today we hosted a visit from a group of 16mm enthusiasts from the Echill's Wood Railway. Having deferred their visit from last Sunday due to forecast heavy rain (which did not materialise), today turned out to be a warm, sunny and still day, perfect for enjoying oneself  - which they evidently did

Materials on hand ready for our next little project which will be to block and gravel the area in front of the loco offloading lifts. Last Winter this area became an absolute quagmire making it difficult reversing cars and trailers up to the lift.

Having removed some bushes from on top of the tunnel, fencing has now been installed to make the area safe for pedestrians using this route.

Pond Junction signal box looking smart after receiving a little TLC including a new tiled roof and paved area outside the door. I wonder if they are going to provide a doormat and boot-scraper too?

The platework is now well-advanced on the L&B loco. Today they were busy fitting the boiler lagging ready for the cleading to be fitted.

The beading strips being applied to the L&B tender.

Today we were delighted to welcome the Rugeley society of model engineers to Balleny Green. Having lost their tracksite at the end of last year, we were more than happy to place our facilities at their disposal for the day, and what an enjoyable day it turned out to be. The temperature was a little chilly early on, but the sun quickly warmed things up and the day turned out to be a really pleasant late-summer's day. Hopefully the pictures below capture some of the action (and natter) that went on during the day. We look forward to them being able to visit us again soon.

Not a brilliant photo, but work continues on the L&B platework
