Branch Lines Society 31st May 2016

This was something a bit different from our normal events as a group of over 30 miniature railway enthusiasts paid to come and travel on as much of our layout as possible.

Graham brought his Coronation pacific for the high level, which attracted quite a bit of interest from the visitors. On the ground level we ran two trains, Chris and Great Northern ran on the main running lines, whilst Allan did a sterling job with the Hymek visiting all our sidings.

The event could have been blessed with better weather as light rain at the start developed in to the full blown stuff as the evening wore on. This meant that the Hymek with two full coaches struggled for adhesion at times, but this was the only formation that would fit within clearances on some sections.

Our visitors were full of praise for our efforts giving us a vote of thanks from atop the carriage lifter at the end! Some had travelled from as far away as Rhyl, Preston, Bristol and even Dorset, as well as many from the east and west Midlands counties and more local places.

Thanks to Sharon and her team for providing the food and refreshments, Peter Mc for the photos and to all of you who braved the weather and helped to make it a success.
